When you first stumble across cloth nappies the different types seem confusing, I thought a quick guided might be helpful. There are 6 main different types of cloth nappy, nappies either come in sized e.g newborn, large etc or birth to potty (BTP) which fit from around 10lbs to 35lbs. They come in a variety of fabrics and either do up with Velcro or poppers.

Prefolds, Pad and Flat Nappies
Muslins
You know the things you probably use for mopping up dribble. Can be folded into a nappy for a newborn and used with a waterproof cover. They are prefect for frequent changes in the early days and can be held on with a nappy nippa (plastic tension t shape with grippy claws used instead of a pin). These are very cheap and have many uses after they are no longer a nappy. These are super fast drying.
Price Range :- very cheap can get 5 for a few pounds in supermarket.

Prefolds
Are lots of layers of fabric sewn together to create an absorbent rectangle, normally the middle has lots more layers than the outside. These can be folded in lots of ways and are also great for boosting other types of nappies. When folded they can be used with a wrap. They sell prefolds wraps that can be used or you can use another waterproof wrap but a nappy nippa will be required to hold the nappy together. Depended on the material these can be quiet fast drying.

However, bamboo is able to absorb more what than microfibre but it takes longer for this to happen.
